Shibori (しぼり / 絞り)
"A Japanese manual resist dyeing technique, which produces patterns on fabric."
Here in Suffolk at The Arty Silkworm we adore the freehand, creative style that the manual resist technique provides.
The totally unique designs, with inspiration taken from the botanical world, the vibrant colours of the professional dyes are what really bring the 100% Pure Silk to life.
There are an infinite number of ways we can wrap, bind, stitch, fold, twist, or compress silk for Shibori, and each way results in very different patterns.
Each method is used to achieve a certain result, but each method works in perfect harmony with the wonderful
fluidity of pure silk.
Different techniques can be used in conjunction with one another to achieve even more elaborate results.

My personal work is influenced by the joyous patterns found absolutely everywhere in nature and the botanical world, in particular, the rich tapestry
of the rural Suffolk countryside.
I specialise in creating beautifully delicate and intricate Silk Scarves and gloriously exciting Pocket Squares/Handkerchiefs with gorgeous detailed designs that are as vivid and alive as the scenes I observe. The results of which continue to sell in both the UK and Overseas.
